Daddy Cool – Super Stallion Royaldik to take part in Express Eventing - 08 November 2012

Tricorn Events, the company behind Express Eventing today announced the thrilling news that top stallion Royaldik would be joining Team Fredericks at the first round of the 2012-13 Series which takes place at London’s ExCel Arena on Saturday, 17th November 2012.

In 2011, Alex Hua-Tian wowed the crowds riding Grafenstolz, whose grace, elegance and athleticism saw him finish runner up in the Series Final at HOYS after qualifying as the highest placed Young Rider in the qualifying rounds of the competition.

This year Ken Rehill of The Stallion Company, has upped the stakes by making the thirteen year old stallion by Royal Diamond out of Herka - the full sister of world number one eventing stallion Heraldik - available for the first round of the competition.

Speaking today, he said, ‘’Express Eventing is just perfect for the boys. Whilst it wouldn’t be possible to run them consistently in the big competitions at advanced level, this enables them to really show what they are capable against the best, but in a safe environment. Stallion Parades work well to a point, but there is nothing like the thrill of competition and running head to head against some of the best in the sport……which is exactly what this competition has become.

The first round of the Express Eventing Series 2012-13 will see seven teams of two riders, and two ‘wild card’ entries, complete a freestyle dressage to music test, followed by pulsating cross country, which will be run to an optimum time, with a finale of show jumping ‘with a twist’, as riders can opt for safety, or challenge themselves to erase four points from their score by jumping the final ‘joker’ fence. Top names competing this year include Alex’ Team Principal, Lucinda Fredericks, Mark Todd, William Fox-Pitt, Oliver Townend, Harry Meade, Matthew Wright, Sam Griffiths and Fiona Hobby.

Alex and Graf were so impressive last year, we just can’t wait to see what Royaldik will do this year to entertain us all, which is absolutely what Express eventing is all about, commented Jill Gratton-Fisher, Director and General Manager of Tricorn Events. It is a thrill and honour for us to have such a top class horse join us and we can certainly assure the people coming to Express Eventing Saturday, that they are guaranteed to be on the edge of their seats throughout. Looking at the list of horses and riders we fully expect the competition to be every bit as thrilling as last year, where the competition hinged on the last rider at the last fence, and there was a different leader after every phase of the competition.

A full list of participating athletes will be released next week.
